For those who love to run, whether it be an occasional jog around the lake or an intense training block, it’s always great to find some motivation and advice from other budding runners.

What better way to find some great running tips and news in the modern day than a podcast. We've roundup our six favourite running podcasts, with something for every type of runner. Whether you are just starting your running journey or are training for your next ultra-marathon, these podcasts are filled with motivations and top tips to get the best out of your next run.

1. The Running Channel

Hosted by Andy Baddelely (a two-time Olympian over 1500m) and Sarah Hurley (a novice 5km program runner to ultra-marathoner) , together they tackle everything that’s newsworthy about running on The Running Channel. With episodes like “What’s Your Greatest Running Fear” and “Why Do You Need A Running Training Plan”, there is a great mix of light-hearted conversation and advanced tips at every stage of your running journey. From training, nutrition and injury prevention, with plenty of guest interviews from top coaches to professional athletes.

Looking for a little more? Their website also features a YouTube Channel with plenty of other content from shoe reviews to the latest news on all the big races around the world.

2. Running Explained

The Running Explained podcast is hosted by running coach, Elisabeth Scott. Her episodes not only deep dive into just running tips, but also the behind the scenes psychology of running. If you're coming across mental motivational barriers and are looking for help to overcome your limitations this one may be for you. The podcast aims to help runners of all levels reach their potential, both physically and mentally. Episodes feature topics like “Where Does My Performance Anxiety Come From” and “Rewiring Your Brain & Body For Better Running”. This listen will offer a great blend of both training tips and the mental aspects of running.

3. The Marathon Training Academy

Launched way back in 2010, the Marathon Training Academy Podcast was one of first podcasts to reach the ears of runners everywhere. Hosted by Angie and Trevor, they focus on marathons With a marathon focused on news, training advice and interviews with top marathon runners and coaches. Topics include focuses like “The Six Laws Of Running Form” and “Let’s Talk About Nutrition For Runners”. A great listen for those who have a few marathons under their belt, and those with aspirations towards conquering that mystical 42km barrier.

4. Coffee Club

If some relaxing banter and discussion around running over a coffee sounds like your vibe, the Coffee Club running podcast is right up your alley. Hosted by pro runners Morgan McDonald, Olli Hoare and George Beamish, it’s just like sitting around a table at brunch chatting all things running. Episodes feature guest interviews with fellow athletes, training advice and their own race story experiences. You’ll get a look into both the comical and technical sides of running, from those who’ve been there and done that.
 

5. Trail Runner Nation

For those that love to kick up some dust on the trails, the Trail Runner Nation Podcast, hosted by experienced trail runners Scott Warr and Don Freeman, will satisfy your itch. The podcast focuses on all aspects of trail running including trail-running shoes reviews, motivational stories and interviews with coaches, ultrarunners and psychologists. Episodes include topics like “Unlocking The Secrets To Long-Term Running Success” and “Training Variety For Peak Performance”. So throw in your earbuds and head to the start of your next route with the Trail Runner Nation Podcast.
 

6. Ten Junk Miles

Much like the Coffee Club podcast, the Ten Junk Mile Podcast brings a light-hearted look at trail running and ultra running through some laid-back discussions and interviews. Hosted by ultrarunner Scott Kummer and a rotating group of co-hosts, you’ll come across some great interviews with fellow runners, training advice and stories of their own adventures, and often misadventures on the trails. They generally have a couple of formats for their podcasts, with the more serious tips and interviews in their “Long Run” episodes, with the banter and casual chats in their “Junk Miles” podcasts.
