#EATFIT with Candy

Want to whip something up that is both healthy and nourishing in your kitchen to fuel your body? Candy from @nourishandflourishsyd shares with us two easy recipes for breakfast and lunch. Start your day with a yummy protein smoothie, do some home exercise/ light jog in your neighbourhood then fuel up with a colourful rainbow stir-fried noodles!


Super C Smoothie

Boost charge your day with this berry-licious smoothie packed with vitamins, minerals, protein, probiotics and healthy fats! Simply blend everything together and top with your fav toppings.

Super C Smoothie Bowl


Ingredients:

  • 1 cup frozen pineapple/mango/banana
  • 1/2 cup frozen berries
  • 1/2 cup yoghurt
  • 1/4 cup almond milk
  • 1 serve vanilla protein
  • Optional: 1 tbsp berry powder

Toppings:

  • Use whatever you have on hand—fruits/chocolate/seeds/yoghurt
  • (Pictured above are berries, cacao truffles, hemp seeds, kiwis and a spoonful of yoghurt)

Method:

  1. Add the frozen fruit, berries, protein power, (optional berry powder), yoghurt and almond milk into a blender.
  2. Blend until a thick mixture forms.
  3. Spread the mixture in a bowl and add toppings of your choice. Use whatever you have on hand!

Rainbow Chicken Fried Noodles

Who doesn’t love a one-pan meal that’s super easy to make and packed with rainbow veggies and protein? Stir-fried with a magical sauce to bring this dish to the next level.

Rainbow Chicken Fried Noodles


Ingredients:

  • 1 serve rice noodles—cooked to package instructions
  • Cooking oil for pan
  • 1 cup veggies (I used broccoli & carrots), cut into bite size
  • 1 cup protein of choice e.g. tofu, chicken, beef etc

For the sauce:

  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 2 tsp toasted sesame oil
  • Pinch of white pepper
  • 1 tsp cooking wine

Method:

    1. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan and cook protein of choice with salt and pepper to taste, until lightly brown. Set aside.
    2. Heat another tbsp of oil and add veggies of choice, cook until slightly softened.
    3. Add in cooked noodles followed by cooked protein and sauce, stir fry until sauce is thickened up.
    4. Optional garnish with some crackers and serve with hot sauce if you like it spicy!

Candy is a full-time radiographer working at the hospital, but she also enjoys eating and spending time in the kitchen creating recipes. Candy’s goal is to create recipes that are not only pantry-friendly, but also nourishing to our bodies and to inspire people to live a healthy and balanced lifestyle!

To stay fit, Candy enjoys at-home workout videos - from bodyweight exercises or with dumbbells for extra resistance. She also loves jogging around her neighbourhood in her favourite ASICS Gel-Kayano 28 shoes.
