How To Fix Squeaky Shoes
How To Fix Squeaky Shoes
There’s nothing more annoying than hitting the pavement for a peaceful walk or run and having that annoying little squeak in your shoes.Usually caused by a little bit of extra moisture and heels rubbing, squeaky shoes are something that are avoidable with just a few simple steps. First, we need to know why our running shoes are squeaking, and then we need to figure out how to fix the issue.
What Makes Running Shoes Squeak?
There are a few reasons that our shoes may squeak, and most of these issues are due to moisture, ill-fitting shoes or a combination of the two.If our shoes do not fit properly, they may rub areas of our foot, which is not only annoying to the ears, but can lead to irritation. This can happen with both old and new running sneakers. Before you hand over your hard-earned cash, make sure that your new sneakers not only look great, but fit well.
It’s not only new shoes that can cause issues, older shoes can also have the same effect due to wear and tear, especially when the soles become too thin and wear away. Holes in the
cushioning of the sole can cause issues with sound, so make sure to check your sneakers occasionally to make sure that their condition will not cause any potential injury or squeaking.
How To Stop Running Shoes from Squeaking
Usually just a few simple products around the home can stop shoes from squeaking in a matter of minutes. The first true and tried method is to simply dry them out. Take some balled-up newspaper and shove it into your shoes down to the toe. Leave them overnight, and by the morning the newspaper should have soaked up any excess moisture. Another textbook method is to sprinkle corn flour or baby powder under the innersoles of the shoes. This should help to reduce the friction between materials and dry out problem areas.
If your shoes are made from leather, it may be the stiffness of the leather that is causing your shoes to make noise. Rubbing some leather conditioner to soften the shoe may help to reduce any rubbing, and hopefully, squeaking of the shoe.
